Use CTREE Slides for a presentation-ready walkthrough of the dashboard results. The deck opens in the browser, advances with the arrow keys or space bar, and links each major figure back to the standalone chart.
Preliminary working dashboard built from the CTREE working data snapshot refreshed on August 5, 2026. The snapshot is still stored in outputs/ctree_2026/data_freeze_2026-05-16 for path stability. Simon’s wide-net rule applies: approved/future and legacy/deceased programs remain included when evidence supports the program, but are flagged rather than treated as ordinary active programs. Named undergraduate credentials and curricular pathways remain in this UG database, including certificates whose delivery basis is co-curricular. Purely non-credential centers, fellowships, initiatives, workshops, and related ecosystem infrastructure are tracked on the ecosystem dashboard rather than counted here. The two universes can be connected through explicit relationship records, but a record is counted in only one universe.
This main page is the high-level program census. It counts confirmed undergraduate PPE, political economy, and civic thought/leadership programs, then summarizes what we know about their level, collection status, economics requirements, disciplinary balance, geography, and interpretation flags. The charts use project-coded categories rather than institutional self-labels, so they are best read as a comparative research map rather than as a directory of official program types. Program level, credential basis, and graduate-component flags describe the record structure used in this analysis.

Program Mix
This chart shows the shape of the undergraduate sample: whether confirmed programs are majors, minors, certificates, or other transcripted/approved undergraduate forms. A program counts once, regardless of size, enrollment, number of courses, or institutional prominence.

|---|---|---|
| Civic thought / leadership | Minor | 80 |
| Civic thought / leadership | Major | 66 |
| Civic thought / leadership | Certificate | 18 |

| Civic thought / leadership | Joint degree pathway | 1 |
| PPE | Major | 72 |
| PPE | Minor | 11 |

CIP Code Mix
The table below shows the CIP code currently recorded for each included undergraduate program. When a direct current program CIP has been found, that field is used; otherwise the dashboard falls back to the intake/original CIP that brought the record into review. Minors and certificates may not always have separately reportable IPEDS CIP codes, so blank or legacy rows should be read as data-collection status rather than proof that no CIP exists.

Requirements Coverage
How much of the curriculum is currently coded across the included sample? Course-coded programs have enough requirement detail to support curriculum analysis. Structure-only and existence-only records remain in the census, but they should not be interpreted as having zero economics or zero non-economics requirements.
The methodological flags identify records that are analytically useful but not ordinary active undergraduate programs with fully captured requirements. They include approved or future programs, legacy/deceased programs, individualized pathways, accelerated BA/MA structures, co-curricular records, and records with missing requirement detail.
Economics Requirements
Economics requirement rates are computed only over course-coded programs. Programs with partial or existence-only collection are treated as missing here, not as requiring zero economics.
Disciplinary Balance
Each program’s required courses are assigned to one of three disciplinary vertices — Economics (E), Politics / Law (P), and Philosophy (Φ) — under a strict mapping that excludes integrative courses (civics, multi- disciplinary, PPE gateway courses) from the denominator. Programs with at least three clearly-classified required courses are classifiable and plotted here; the remainder are noted below. See analysis/simplex/SIMPLEX_PLAN.md for the full methodology.
Provisional analysis. The discipline mapping is pending co-author review. The integrative-course fractional allocation (Tier 2) requires sign-off before use. Only the strict Tier 1 coordinates are shown here.
| Category | Classifiable | Low coverage | Unclassifiable |
|---|---|---|---|
| Civic thought / leadership | 41 | 35 | 91 |
| PPE | 81 | 2 | 1 |
| Political economy | 77 | 8 | 1 |
Geography
The map and state ranking show where the included undergraduate programs are located. They are useful for spotting geographic concentration and collection coverage, but they should not be read as an enrollment-weighted measure or as a complete national census of every adjacent civic/PPE initiative.

All confirmed included programs with interpretation flags. Use the search box to find a specific institution or filter by flag type.
Audit Notes
| Check | Value |
|---|---|
| Frozen raw program rows | 872 |
| Rows available for analysis | 872 |
| Malformed registry rows quarantined from dashboard analysis | 0 |
The dashboard is intentionally conservative about curricular conclusions: missing course requirements remain missing. The next analysis pass should decide whether to restrict economics-requirement rates to course-coded programs only, report both denominators, or model missingness directly.
